Abstract

Student activities and organizations have played an important role in creating student leadership opportunities and enhancing the university experience. Student Government, the Campus Lecture Series (1973-1995), and various clubs and organizations offered students a chance to interact outside of class. The opening of the Campus Activities Center, our first building dedicated as a student union, allowed for large-scale lectures and special events to take place on campus. The pool and waterfront have been popular gathering places since the earliest years of the campus.
