Abstract
There is a growing voice saying the corporations have a responsibility to society beyond the responsibility to shareholders. Panel members will examine several aspects of corporate responsibility. Hudson Oliveira will discuss corporate social responsibility and the Balanced Solution strategy at Progress Energy which includes renewable and alternative energy. Panelists will discuss how to measure the social responsibility of individual companies and the impact of holding socially responsible firms in a portfolio. This will include what companies are doing to incorporate environmental responsibility (sustainability) into operations and the value created by becoming environmentally responsible. Panelists will also discuss the investment value of socially responsible mutual funds. Finally the panel will also discuss how and why business schools incorporate social responsibility into the curriculum.
