Abstract

Adolescents and young adults represent one of the fastest growing populations of HIV infections, accounting for 39% of new infections each year (CDC, 2015). Despite promising advances in the medical field and increased life expectancy, individuals with HIV commonly experience depressive symptoms and diagnosable depressive episodes. Due to the known deleterious effects of depression, we hypothesized a negative associations between depression risk and viral suppression.
