Abstract

To think critically we must harness a more mindful process to harvest three things that will assist our understanding and perspectives to ultimately help ourselves and others. The three topics discussed in the presentation will integrate our internal strengths with our external culture to assist with a more natural progression for society.

Description

Critical thinking is a deeper sense of understanding and implementing a thought, yet we overlook the whole wisdom of our beings when we do not incorporate both internal and external conditions involved in the process. Critical thinking cannot effectively direct our beliefs and actions unless it continually considers our feeling or emotional states, as well as our implicit and explicit drives and plans (Elder, 1996). In other words, effective critical thinking is not just about using the mind, but more so about being aware of our current feelings and agendas. It may also be directly affected by our

biases and the underlying influence of our current state, both mentally and emotionally. Thus, critical thinking may also be constructed with regard to our emotional intelligence. It is critical then to understand what motivates our deeper sense of thinking and ultimately our understanding to make decisions and act on them. We will discuss the importance of creating a more mindful route to engage in a deeper sense of holistic thinking in a critical and empathetic manner. We will also engage in real environmental and societal situations that allow us to see others perspectives and views, to ultimately understand that our thinking and actions affect us, as well as others.
